Every step was about getting people to actually use something.
The short version: Kentucky farm kid, Air Force linguist, healthcare technology and security leadership, enterprise sales, MBA, business faculty, founder. The long version is below, and the thing that makes it one story is in the headline.
The arc
I grew up on a farm in Kentucky. The United States Air Force made me a linguist: German at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey in 1985 and 1986, then Sembach Air Base in Germany from roughly 1988 to 1991, flying on Compass Call, the EC-130H.
At Nebraska Methodist Health System I went from IT Manager to Data Center Director and Chief Information Cybersecurity Officer: 40 staff, a $19 million budget, high-level cybersecurity audits. I built the department's training program and instituted formal career coaching there, which is the first time the pattern showed up: the job was the people, not the equipment.
IBM made me a Client Executive from 2012 to 2015, covering a four-state region. Then Jet Linx, 2015 to 2018, as VP of Jet Card Sales: I hired and trained a sales team that doubled across 14 cities, and designed the training, scripts and process documents they ran on. From 2018 to 2024 I consulted alongside full-time work, including process integration across four acquired companies during an M&A run.
My MBA is from Creighton, where I was named Student of the Year. I have taught at Creighton's Heider College of Business since 2011, full-time since 2019, as an Instructor of Practice. In January 2026 I founded The Corporate Professor to deliver AI training to corporate teams, and started shipping the software that makes the training stick.
Twenty-five years of sales, technology and teaching, and the same lesson from all of it: it is always about people. AI adoption does not fail on technology. It fails on change management and skill, and the people who understand the second pair usually cannot speak the first. I have spent a career on both sides of that table.
Now
I teach three courses at Heider, run The Corporate Professor, and build the systems on thework page. I keep a library of what I learn building things, and the three essays here came out of it. I live in Omaha and am open to relocating for the right role.
