I've been heavy and over a desired weight for as long as I can remember. It has been this way at least since graduating high school. I've had enough. I want to change my behaviors that are maintaining the weight. I don't want surgery, meds, or short-term solutions -- no crash diets.
I want lifestyle changes.
What changes? I don't think I'm much different metabolically than my dog. If I feed her too much, she'll gain wait. If I cut back on her food, she loses weight. If I feed her better food, she seems healthier.
Exercise if vital to my well being but not so much for weight loss. You can't out run a bag of M & Ms. Exercise might have some indirect benefits that are hard to measure. My mood may improve from exercise, and with a better mood, I make better food choices.
So...
The Plan
- eat less.
- move more.
- choose real food.
Obstacles
- Starting: I'll start tomorrow or after the holiday.
- Sticking: already messed up, so today is shot.
- Low spots: evenings are dangerous; easy to over eat while snacking at night or after dinner.
Tactics
- Supplements: (I'll take long-term)
- Collagen
- Vitamin D
- Multi-vitamin
- Fish Oil
- Creatine
- Start where I am with what I have.
- Some is better than none, and now is better than later.
What can I do today?
- Find something around 500 cal or less for lunch.
- And see how I feel this afternoon.
